Operating Millage Information with OCS Logo, image depicts a hand placing an envelope into the slit in the top of a box

On August 4, our district will place an operating millage proposal on the ballot.

Key information about the proposal:

  • It does not increase taxes on primary residences. This operating millage applies only to non-homestead properties, such as businesses, rental properties, and second homes.

  • These dollars support the daily operation of our schools, including transportation, staff, academic programs and pathways, utilities, athletics (maintaining no pay-to-play), and more, and are not used for new buildings or added enhancements.

  • If this millage is not approved this year, Oxford Community Schools would face a loss of approximately $7 million in annual funding, which would require cuts to many services across the district.

  • Our local business community is already paying an operating millage of around 17.3 mills. This proposal would restore the rate to 18 mills (as approved by voters in 2016) and be valid for the next ten years.

We’ll continue sharing more information in the coming months. We encourage families, and anyone with questions, to visit our website for the most accurate and up-to-date information at https://www.oxfordschools.org/millage. Questions can also be submitted directly through the webpage so we can continue providing clear and timely answers.

In addition, if you have family members, friends, or neighbors who live in the district but do not receive updates directly from us, please encourage them to sign up to receive OCS updates at https://www.oxfordschools.org/updates. This form can also be found on our millage webpage.
