We want to provide clarification following a recent newspaper headline regarding threat assessment and suicide prevention training in Oxford Community Schools. The framing of that headline suggests a safety gap that does not reflect the full context and may unnecessarily alarm families in our community.
Oxford Community Schools meets and exceeds all legally required training related to threat assessment and suicide prevention. All current staff members have completed this training, and new hires complete it before beginning work in our district. Maintaining well-trained staff in these areas continues to be an important priority for us.
